Deflating Your Jealousy Balloon

Good Morning Everybody,
I have a little thought on dealing with jealousy that I want to bounce off you guys. Here it is in nutshell:
IF YOU WANT TO UPROOT YOUR FEELINGS OF JEALOUSY,
ROOT FOR THE PERSON YOU’RE JEALOUS OF.
I know it sounds a bit crazy, but you’ll be surprised at what happens if you try this. When we allow ourselves to feel a genuine “spark of joy” for that other person, even for just 1 second…the effect is astonishing.
For that brief moment, all the tension, negativity and ill will you felt towards the other person vanish. It’s like popping a balloon, except we’re popping our ego. Your body suddenly and completely relaxes, and you’re left with an amazingly serene moment of soul-filled harmony.
It seems that by tapping into our spiritual side, unfettered by our insecurities and self-esteem issues, Hashem enables us to connect with that other person’s spiritual side as well. It’s like looking through a crystal clear lens… “Neshama Vision”— no jealousy, frustration or hostility. Just shalom.
And even though we may only be able to hold that feeling for a moment, it makes an incredible impact. We discover that we’ve been underestimating how incredibly powerful we are. Our potential to overcome bitterness and anger is far greater than we think. We can transform jealousy into joy! Think how much that can enrich our lives and relationships!
I encourage all of us to think of one person that we feel mildly jealous of, and allow ourselves to root for their success. Tap into your “Neshama Vision” and joyfully see him or her succeeding at whatever they do. Be happy for them. And when that lofty feeling of shalom envelopes you, even if it only lasts for a second, I hope it inspires you to continue upgrading your feelings towards that person so your relationship will become as awesome as possible.
Have a joyful day and beautiful Shabbos filled with much shalom,
Marshall
Keep on Building!
